BEHOLD!! My sub-par coloring skills at Photoshop! :P

Anyways, these are two characters from a story me and :iconserenity-vixen: are going to make. The giant Naga is named Negeyari, a Felaryan Sea Naga (even though she doesn't know this), and the cute little Neko girl is named Enishi. The two are best friends, though it didn't start out that way. Enishi is a sorceress with a vast amount of knowlage and lore (She often wears a deep blue cloak and hat, but being on a tropical island it gets a little hot), here shes telling a story to Negeyari who is easily surprised about unusual stories.

Negeyari's egg appeared in a temple near the island village of Najalka, the human islanders found her egg, and instead of destroying it, they took care of it, having a good idea what it could be, the temple was built for a special reason, though few knew about the origins of the tall black tower it was built around.

Before long the egg hatched in the home of the village chieften, the small naga had pure white hair and a striped tail which flattened out to a fin on the end. She appeared to be simular in appearance to a toddler, the village chieften decided to adopt the girl and gave her the name Negeyari, which means "Serpent Maiden" in the ancient language of the island. Strangely she was welcomed by the village of humans and hailed as the guardian of the village.

Growing up Negeyari was taught the customs of the village, and grew very fond of the villagers. She really enjoyed the villages traditional cuisines, but also helped out in the feilds by catching and eating rats that would harm the crops. She got along well with all the children, and was adored by the adults. The peace was to change one day when a ominous ship loomed on the horizon.

The ship was a Pirate raider! The people of the village being fishermen and farmers had little chance against the well trained pirates. So they made no agressive moves against them with their harpoons. The chieften asked what they wanted in their village, and a young woman appeared, wearing a dark blue magician hat and cloak. She introduced herself as Enishi, and said her objective was the temple, many of the villagers started to protest but Enishi told the pirates she hired not to harm any of the villagers.

The situation changed when Negeyari confronted Enishi, threatening to bite her if she didn't leave (Negeyari like Sea Snakes is highly venomous) saying that the temple is a sacred place. Enishi stood in shock looking at the young naga, Negeyari took this as a refusal to leave and lunged at her with her fangs beared. Enishi barely had enough time to dodge as she snapped out of it, as Negeyari turned to strike again she was by the end of Enishi's staff aimed at her face, as Enishi mmbled some words a bright flash blinded Negeyari, when it was over Negeyari slumped to the ground asleep.

As Enishi stared at the sleeping naga, several pirates approached and wanted to kidnap and sell the naga, or worse. Suddenly the village chieften and several of the villagers came fourth to protect Negeyari. Enishi impressed by the love the villagers had for the naga, decided she was not worth sacrificing and turned on the pirates. The pirates enraged at her betrayer grew violent and attacked, but were easily felled by Enishi's offensive spells, and the thrown harpoons of the villagers. The pirates were all dispatched and their ship taken by the villagers. Enishi gave up quietly and requested that she live in the village to look after the naga. Reluctantly the chieften finally agreed after she wouldn't accept no as a answer.

Negeyari awoke after the chieften (daddy) agreed to let Enishi stay in the village, much to her dismay. Enishi's life in the village of Nanalka began. At first Negeyari didn't trust or like Enishi at first. When Enishi tried helping to catch rats for Negeyari, Negeyari got mad and chased her off the field she was hunting in. Only when Enishi actually caught some rats for the naga, Negeyari grew to tolerate her more. Eventually the two become uneasy friends, Enishi is good at playing the mandolin she always carries on her back, and it often puts Negeyari in kind of a happy trance-like state. Eventually Negeyari began to get hungry more frequently and require more food, she also began to shed her skin, she entered her growth cycle!

Enishi and the Villagers helped Negeyari at first, as she stayed at the chieften's house, but even after the first week Negeyari grew from 5 feet long to 15 feet long, it was time for her to live in a place a bit more spacious. The temple was chosen as Negeyari's new home. Over the months food was provided for Negeyari in the forms of fruit, wild animals, and most abundantly fish. During this time Negeyari built a bond with Enishi, Enishi set up her living quarters in the temple itself so she could look over Negeyari. During this time Negeyari slept most of the time, but when she was awake she generally complained about how hungry she was and about having to shed skins.

Eventually Negeyari's growth cycle slowed, and her appitite went back to normal, only problem now was she was around 100 feet long. She would need larger prey, but with the help of Enishi she made up her mind that she wouldn't dream of eating humans even outsiders, besides she likes fish alot....especially Tuna. Once she was able to leave the temple she villagers welcomed the giant naga, Negeyari was all too happy that the villagers wern't afraid of her. Now that she was her current size she cheerfully repayed the kindness of the villagers, helping in building houses, and most importantly fishing! With her venom she was easily able to bring back large prey like whales and sea monsters for the village, though Enishi had to detoxify them before they could be butchered. Negeyari was also happy that the villagers made use of her shed skins, such as clothing, tarps and even waterproofing for roofs.

Currently Negeyari and Enishi live happily in the temple near Nanalka but who knows when that peace will last. There has been word spreading in the outside world of a giant with the tail of a snake...

I orginally planned to add a background from inside the temple but it looked terrible :P

This is part of a series I plan to draw in the near future involving these two.

I used Photoshop to color the rough draft I drew which can be found in my scraps.
